Nice. I know I am always more relaxed when I fish for perch. And when I bring my kids for that matter. Were there a lot of boats out when you went? The launch has been crowded every time I have passed by.

There were plenty of boats passing in the canal we fished. Some slow down for you ("real fishermen"), some blow by like you're not there ("bassturds"; these guys must have had miserable childhoods or something).
The north Gibbstown launch had trailers halfway to Hwy. 27 when we loaded up to leave.

One that I threw back was a tequila sunrise color.
Yeah, we were enjoying the different patterns and colors on these little suckers.

We were using 5'6" Berkley Cherrywood light-action spinning rods and small spinning reels. I had forgotten how much fun this could be.

I was out there also on Sunday...first time in years that I perch jerked. Kept 25 goggle-eyes and 12 sac-a-lait. Lost count of how many I threw back. I was using a "Courtney Rod" that Mr. J.D. Courtney built for me about 15 years ago; it took me a while to get used to it. Caught everything on a tube jig about 16 inches deep. I launched at about 7:45 and I had to park pretty far down the road from the launch. And yes, the majority of people would slow down as they got close to me but there is always a few that seem to be on a mission and only know two speeds...stop and wide open; some people just don't have any couth.

Live or artificial baits?

Latt, as I was idling down the 45 canal as I was leaving...so many people fishing that I could not get up on plane for very long...everyone I noticed were using artificial...I saw a lot of chartreuse jigs. I do believe that this time of year they will bite on just about anything. I was using chartreuse/black with a 1/32 jig head.

Pink and black or white and chartreuse.
