Default Calcasieu River June 29, 2011

Caught around 35 (+ or -) a few this evening on the River. Incoming tide and I ripped em. Should have fished the dogfight but left my boat in the water this week and didn't have time to pull it out today..

No size, all about 11-12 inches with a few little chunks.

First spot was to a marsh that I knew had running water in the back, got there, fished the incoming canal with topwater and lost a good chunk, after pounding it with topwater, I switched to a Backwater Tackle Stik bait 4 inch watermelon red wacky worming, first cast I nailed one, and after that it was every cast up until I pulled 12 out the mouth of the cut. Was fun watching them come out the reeds and slam it, with the boat only being a few feet away.

Next stop (the barrier) produce nothing but Lady Fish

and the next spot was where the money was.. Throwing topwater I smoked them. Roughly 20-25 fish came out this spot.. One cast I had 6-8 bass huddled around my plug, one would miss it, I'd stop, and then the biggest nailed it.

Was a fun trip. Will be out tomorrow evening again, they finally got on to their summer pattern it appears.. After struggling on the sabine yesterday, and not doing good this past weekend this was a much needed catching trip.

I actually didn't take any pics. I guess I'll start bring my actual Camera out again and taking pics. So I can post them. Should see my camera album on my phone.. I think that thing could have its own magazine with the number of fish in it..

Seen a school of reds (10 or so) finning and had their backs out the water in the marsh I hit also.. Gorgeous is the only term to use for that sight!
