Default First Split Report

Well the first split treated me pretty good ending with 233 total in 11 days hunted. Started off slow last Thrusday and picked up as the week went along and began to tail off again the latter part of last week. Our best hunts was 24 with 10 mallards on Monday and then on Wednesday we ended up with 36 with just a handfull of mallards. Only advice I can really give is hunt late the mallards we killed were all shot after 11:30 even shot on a bunch as late as 1:30. All in all it was a pretty good start to the season considering all the bad reports I have been hearing. Hopefully we get some cold weather during the split and it pushes some new birds in. Good luck to everyone in the second split.

Our lease in Kaplan did not do to bad the first split. On the duck days (rain and wind) we killed birds. Most of the birds we shoot are teal but I did not keep a count. For some reason, the day after a front and the next few days afterwards when it is sunny and blue bird day we really do not kill anything. For example, this morning would of been a good morning to hunt our lease...Oh well, hopefully we will get some nasty weather for the 2nd split.

Thanks for the report. I've not been able to withstand the wait till 11:00 to see if any big ducks come in, but I will probably try it the second split.

What part of the state do you hunt in?

How do you like those Black Cloud and that Extrema?

Yakem, thought you had a great lease down south?

I'd have to check but there may be something available on our farm. We have been real spotty this year with about 85 ducks killed out of our blind.

I hunt in Avoyelles parish. The black clouds are good with the extrema or any auto for that matter the kickoff really helps, but in a pump they rattle your teeth.

I shoot the Black Clouds in my BPS, I don't find they kick that bad.
