Strapping down 24' bay boat

Need some insight. I just bought a 24' sea fox. My first bay boat. The boat is held on the trailer by the winch strap and the a chain attached to the front I'm assuming Incase the strap fails. That's it. No straps or anything on the back of the boat or transom. I asked the guy at the dealer and he said that it weighs 2500 lbs and it won't move and blah blah. Is this right? It's really got me nervous.

Yea never heard of a boat coming from the dealer without backstraps

Make sure you get stainless steel and not painted

Get back straps. Takes all of 5 seconds to put on and extra piece of mind.

Like meaux said, get the stainless ones. They make some that attach to the back of the trailer so you never have to worry about forgetting or losing them.

I'm doing it. Have to get eye holes and everything installed on this thing.

Its against the law to tow anything without straps. 2 is the minimum and at least every 10 feet thereafter.

my 24HO doesnt have a place and didnt come with straps..I dont run 'em..

I've got a brand new BlackJack with a black hull and I don't use the straps on the rear anymore because they started to scuff my gel coat. I had someone follow behind me to watch how the boat trailers without straps...just fine at 50-60 mph over bumps and train tracks. The rear end does not bounce at all. I usually only trailer from LC to Cal Point or LC to Hebert's and i don't have any issues without the rear straps. If you plan to trailer your rig for long hauls on the interstate, straps would probably be a good idea. I went over to Sabine a couple times and I put the straps on because I-10 in Sulphur will beat your rig to death.

When I took my CDL that was a rule In the book. Whether commercial or not im not sure. I just know id strap my boat down even if I had to run a strap over and across the back.

I pull my frontier everywhere and don't use them. When I had a Xpress, lighter boat, I did use them.

I have a Blazer Bay and only run the front strap and a safety chain. Used to use back straps but stopped. No problems.

I have a 10,000 lb winch strap, 2 safety chains, a safety chain with a turnbuckle and a 24,000 lb ratchet strap on my boat.

And mine weighs twice as much as y'all's.

Better to be safe than sorry. Cheap insurance.

I have a black jack w/black hull also. I always strap the rear down. As far as scuffing the hull (mentioned earlier),put something between the strap and the hull to protect it. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Ive got a 25 majek extreme and trailer it from lafayette to beaumont. Boat does not move whatsoever. All of the weight is in the back of those boats and the trailer contains it in a v cradle. It would take some sort of accident to move that boat off of that trailer Don't waste your time with the strap

I am pretty sure that the rear straps purpose is so that the boat does not come off of the trailer if you are in a vehicle accident.
