Default Grand Isle surf conditions?

Hey guys this is my first post here or anywhere. My 2 sons and I plan to wade fish on GI Thurs and Fri. The weather reports say that the winds have been and will be up to 15mph from the South until Wed. around 4pm. My question - Is that enough wind to mess the surf fishing up and how long does it take to become productive again if it does? Thank you for any help.

If you have south winds for days it may mess up the surf a bit. But one tide cycle can straighten it out. 15 mph winds from the south can make enough wave to Make hard to fish the surf. Plan b. wade the back side of the island.

I'm as novice as they come, but I caught, and saw some good fish caught off the GI fishing bridge. Either side works. If the surf is rough, get out on the pier when the tide is moving and heave out some cracked crab or live mullet. We caught (and lost) some good fish.

Thanks for the info. We moved to monroe from Colorado 3yrs ago and have done well with the fishing up here. Made 4 trips to Venice and the fishing was out of this world! Never fished GI before and thanks to this site I'm increasing our chance of success. We are hoping to find a place to fish the inshore waters without pulling a boat. (14mpg vs 23mpg). I will post a report and let y'all know how we did. p.s. my oldest son made it into the alligator gar record books 2 wks after moving here!

The sides of the road along hwy 1 are also some good spots. Fish the canals that cross under the road you can usually catch something there

One more question. Fishing the bay side sounds great but how do you access the bay side? Looking at Google maps seems like it may be mostly private. Again, we have never wade fished at GI before and after looking at previous posts I can't find any info on accessing the bay area. Thanks again and thank God for the great fishing in Louisiana!!!!

Most of it is private but if you look closely you can find streets that end at the bay.
