Default salinity gauge
Is salinity gauge working at Calcasieu and I-10? Been below 1 going on 8 days.Any ideas?

6inchs of rain in 24hrs last week....water runs from North to South.....

Yeah, don't expect that to jump up anytime soon. All that rain dumped a bunch of water into the Calcasieu watershed up north. Its going to take a while.

IF???? .....there is no more rain for the next week......the salinity should start to come up some at I-10.

There have been times where the salinity @ I-10 stays below 1 for 2+ months at a time due to continued rains.

Do the fish totally move out at that salinity? Do they just push south until salinity reaches tolerable levels for them? Hate to display my ignorance, but trying to get a handle on the fish movement.

trout yes, but redfish can tolerate freshwater. Redfish can actually live and thrive in freshwater. You can put redfish in a freshwater pond. If you go to Bass Pro Shops in Denham Springs and look in the aquarium, they have a couple redfish in the aquarium along with all the freshwater fishes

Yes to the salinity to be able to spawn, but they will survive and thrive just fine in freshwater. You can absolutely put redfish in your freshwater pond and they will do just fine

Yeah there are a couple of lakes in Texas that are stocked with redfish. Can you imagine if you were bass fishing there and didn't know? Hook up to a 6 lber and think you got a new world record lol
