I had no idea about your situation. What a man to stand by his wife like that. Big respect to you. I would love to make the event but will be out of town.

There is no magic to my methods.. some days i want to throw in the towel. Whether its GOD or just my love for this woman or just my stubborn hardheaded persistant azz or all of the above.... something says "Just Show Up! and everything will be ok" soo thats what i do.
Let me clarify.... ITS DEFINATELY GOD AND NO OTHER WHO DOES THIS. There are far better men and husbands than I. You definately could learn what NOT to do from me LOL. |

They had a nice little write up in today's American Press. Supposedly Lady Tor alumni from 1970 to 2013 have called in and said they were going to come to the game and all purchased shirts for the event.

Rodrick Anderson Posted Nov. 8, 2013 @ 10:00 am Sulphur, La. Nearly 12 years after she led the Sulphur Lady Tors to a championship, Amber Koonce Myers will have her jersey retired on Friday. The event will be a pregame ceremony at Matt Walker Memorial Stadium. Myers, who has ALS (Amytrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's Disease) will be honored shortly before the Tor football team takes the field to face Comeaux for Senior Night at 7 p.m. She was a two-time all-state and all-district award winner for the Lady Tors. Myers was just a sophomore when she pitched the Lady Tors to a win over District 3-5A rival Comeaux in the 2001 5A state championship game in the first year the Fast Pitch 56 was hosted in Sulphur. She graduated from Sulphur High in 2003 but just five years later she was diagnosed with ALS. ALS, which affects between one and two people in 100,000, is a motor neurone disease that causes rapidly increasing muscular weakness, along with difficulties speaking, swallowing and breathing. Myers is married to Eddie Myers and has a four-year old son named Owen. Fellow 2003 Sulphur High graduate Lauren Bowman will be on hand Friday to represent Team Gleason, a foundation run by former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason who was diagnosed with ALS in 2011.
