Default Big Lake campground ideas?

I haven't been to the lake this year from all the freshwater earlier. Thinking of bringing my little teardrop camper and kayak to an RV park just for grins and something to do. Just need 110ac power for air conditioner.

I'm looking for someplace easy and close to campground to work 6 good crab drop nets. Either by canoe or off the bank.

So far the jetty campground down south, and Intracoastal rv park on hwy27 comes to mind, but never been to either. Any thoughts on these? Safe? I tend to avoid loud tight crowded settings.

Anyplace else to drop the small camper at a safe controlled campground, and fish or crab the nearby area? East or west side of Big Lake.

Bringing a yak I would say intracoastal. A short paddle and you can fish choupique bayou.

I sometimes stop by the Intercoastal campground to clean fish or have launched there some. Always looks to be a safe place and fairly quite.

Not sure how the crabbing would be there.

Never been in the Jetty campground at Cameron. If the winds stay calm, like forecast, the fishing would probably be better there but you might have to watch the tides so you don't get caught having to paddle back upstream. Sometimes the tide can really start to move fast.

Crabbing should be better at Cameron and a good chance to have big Red take you for a ride. Bring a cast net for catching some live bait. Trout fishing has also been good along the ship channel.

You can take your camper and yak to the Cameron Jetty Facility. Rather than try yakking in the channel, drag it to the beach and fish along side the east (gulf) side of the jetty. You can follow it almost all of the way down covering deeper water but staying close to the rocks. The wind won't affect you if it's coming from the southwest and the flounder, reds and trout will stack up in there when the tide's moving.
