Good to hear. I have actually been and caught decent too. Had to go above Serpent to get to better water. I was going to go this morning but thought it was gonna rain. Swim Jig has been bait of choice for me. Gonna head up to the big pond this weekend for the first time this year. If anyone has any suggestions I am all ears!!

Is White Oak on the Calc River? I fished a little tournament there last weekend. Ran all over the world, but I don't know the all location lingo besides what was named on my Navionics. Probably never going back, just curious. Unless it's to pursue the new world record goggle eye

Yes it is on the Calcasieu river. It is river fishing at it's best or toughest! It is a humbling place to fish. The late fall is a good time to fish around the lwer area where the saltwater barrier meets the river. You will catch bass, stripers, reds, flounder and specks out of the same areas. Sorry you didn't have a better trip. When the big bad bassmasters fished here they were humbled too!

Keep taking it, I can't win money for some reason. In anything. Tournament, casino, raffle, cake walk, scratch off, etc. It was only my 2nd time there, and first on my own. If I could have connected with 1/4 of the fish I missed on frogs who knows though. It was fun fishing somewhere new and trying to figure them out, and that place sets up to my strengths, but GAWD is it hard for me to have confidence in anything at that place. It doesn't even seem like a normal river system. It's almost like they just pick a random stretch of bank and pile up on a small area, and whoever stumbles upon them jacks em. Current, bait, high/low, clean water doesn't even seem to matter. Must just be finding spots to hide from all the gar or something lol

Yes they were. It was a cool place, and I caught plenty of fish both times if I was looking to keep some to eat, just tiny ones. I was convinced there was no such thing as a better fish there, then someone weighed in one over 4, one just under 4, and I had one around 3 come off trying to swing it. It seems like there is a good following of local guys who fish competitively there, and that's pretty cool. They all seemed very encouraging toward one another and would actually share info on stuff. I don't see that atmosphere on Toledo outside of clubs.

Once you find them (and you will) the key is to stay with them !!! Don't skip a weekend or you will be starting from scratch . Generally if the goggle-eyes are biting what you are fishing with, you are on the right track for bass . Just stick with it and throw, throw, throw ... Enjoy

I don't have the phone app toload pics here due to it being an office phone. But during the spawn i weighed 5 fish and they totalled 18lbs. I was on them for two weekends. I had one break 65 lb braid and lost a couple others by not paying attention. Two sunday ago i caught a 7,5,3 and two 2lbers on one stretch. They were chasing bream which were eating some kind of small fry hatchlings.

Come enter some of the river tourneys! If you can catch 8-10lbs 5 fish stringers consistantly you will win 90% of them

I did fish with a buddy two weeks ago. We ended up with 6.4lbs. He had more bites on his frog but the weren't really blowing up to ear it. I had 6 bites and boat 5 of the six. Of course the one that got off was 3.5 to 4pbs. Got me pinched between a stump and a knee. 8.96 won from what I hear.
