The key to this is where will the supposed marina be located.

Interesting

Private or Public funding?

Toledo Bend has about 20 marinas just like this. They have cabins, RV hookups, gas, boat stalls, restaurants, live bait, beer etc. Its awesome to fish until about noon, then sit down, have a beer, have a nice hot meal, then hit the water again. I don't understand why this wouldn't work somewhere on Big Lake.

I think hebert's had a restaurant for a while but it didn't make it. Problem with Big lake or any bay system marina is how seasonal the crowds are. You also get less recreational traffic(tubers and stuff) like you typically do on a freshwater lake.

If it were me I would also offer some short term rental wet slips for people that come down for a few days and dont want to keep launching their boats. On grand isle those run $15/day and they stay full during the summer.

Honestly I would just like to see more gas on the water. I asked a long time ago about gas at CP. The ladies said the gas line was installed along with the road but the Epa said the ground was to soft and wouldn't let them install pumps from the line. I would think you could bring in a portable tanker truck in a dyke system and pump it above ground. Would make a freakin killing!!!!
I run a fuel distributorship. Would be nice if I could set something up at Hebert's or Cal Point. Dubya, you could be my service man!!

I wouldn't be opposed to setting something up on the west side either.

We go for lunch at a few different places in texas when I go visit my dad. Went to one place I think in freeport or near freeport that was a hit. Fuel, live bait, tackle, loaded convinience store, restaurant/bar that hosts live music, fish cleaning areas. Its great scenery even if you aren't fishing. Sitting outside enjoying the view with a cold drink and food watching boats roll in with their catches...nothing wrong with that.

I grew up Fishing in Bolivar. Stingaree Marina has always been a great place just as you mentioned.

The bay used to have that and now that its gone that place is not the same for me. Can't beat grabbing a cold beer and burger and heading back on the water like that.

It would cost more to Demo Dugas than start fresh at a new site! Plus, you would have to open a new Landfill to bury everything !
