Hit Da Pernt yesterday with my kid. We ran to the weir at Bird Island Bayou. He proceeds to school Daddy on how its done. Throws the castnet, catches his own live bait (croaker), then lays the smackdown on me catching all the fish while i bait his hook and drive the boat! Don't get any better than that.
Tried dry reef, cote blanche area, hammock, point, cove. A few gaftop, croaker, and 1 small trout.
Threw every plastic in the box didn't catch a thing. Water was pretty nasty.

Jonathon, way to go! Your son will remember that trip forever. Stick with that game plan of yours and you will hit the conditions right and game on. I told ya I was going Sunday afternoon but the gremlins got to my electrical system with my motor not wanting to turn over! Seems i changed the battery and during the process unknowingly broke the crimp on the negative terminal....faught this all afternoon trying to find the problem...thanks to a lengthly phone conversation w/ bro-in-law we figured where the heck was the bad connection. I now know my wiring intimately!

Thanks for the report and keep those pics of the young one coming!

Thanks Shellman. we had our own wiring project on saturday hooking up new depth finder. we got power to the head but hadn't had time to install the transducer yet.

did not try for crabs although a few others were there crabbing. crabs looked small. that will be our next venture because he saw those guys catching crabs now that's all he is talking about going back to crab.

Nice report! That sounds like a fun day!

Where is this wier? I know how to get to the wier by the game warden station but have never been to a wooden one like the one in the picture.
