Default Gps memory card

Need some help from one of ya experienced GPS guys. Just got a new Humminbird ..this one has 2 mmc/sd card slots. Never have had a card in any other one before and dont see any listing for one from humminbird. Where do you get these cards and how diff are they from a regular sd card? Thanks in advance.

You can buy upgraded maps that include "Google Earth" images - slick if you fish the marsh a lot. Navionics Platinum+ is excellent.

Anyhow, call Derek at Breakwater Marine in Houston and he can fix you up.

I used Breakwater for my last 2 boats - solid, honest guys who know their stuff & no BS.
Good luck

Thanks will do. Appreciate help. I uploaded latest map upgrade as per humminbird site but maps pretty basic. I will search for cards on ebay or amazon. Kinda weird how to do pc upgrade connect unit using aa battery kit and pc cable. I was able to transfer all my routes I had saved on mapsource program to the unit so that helped. It would be nice to have google earth maps on unit.

I've got a 998c si and can transfer all up grades and waypoints using the Humminbird software and a regular 4 GB SD card. It does not require anything special and 4 GB holds more than I will ever use. I think it will accept up to an 8 GB card if you want to record screen images. I bought a few off TigerDirect for less than $10. You can also buy upgraded maps, but they are nothing special for SW, LA and not worth the $199 in my opinion.

I have a 788ci so regular memory cards will work then? I was looking at the sdhc cards. I mainly need for memory purposes than anything.

Either will work. I've used both with no issues. Make sure they are reformatted before you put any data on them or you run a risk of locking up the unit. I did it once with something on the card and locked it up. I had to send it back to Eufaula for a reload. I use a seperate card to load updates. I have another one with all my waypoints on. Always put the unit to default settings before loading software upgrades (another trip to Eufaula).
