Stay back when fishing. Wardens were ticketing people last weekend for being to close.

No, Reds move a lot quicker than trout when chasing bait. Wore out my troll motor. I always fish birds like you. Only difference is I will admit it...

There was another boat on the inside.....not shown. Boat in background of picture was ok. Picture taken 3-3-11. My youngest son may be coming to fish in a few days, so wanted to make a scouting trip. I caught about a dozen Reds and only one was undersize. People using shrimp were only able to keep about 1 in every 5 that they caught. Oh, the 3 guys fishing up by the wier......they were measuring and throwing back the undersize reds. I guess they did not want to get caught with undersize fish. . |

The last couple of times I went out, there were 4 or 5 boats all inside the signs. When you come out the weirs they look at you like your bothering them or something but there in the damn way.

I have seen 2 guys standing on the 2nd weir crushing the reds before.

No matter if the signs are there are not, the rules say 250 ft.
Before you go on a refuge or WMA, you need to know the rules. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse. LDWF have been ticketing on weekends. Guess they need to go out on weekdays also. |

This sigh is posted on the inside [Marsh side] at Grand Bayou wier. There is also a sigh as you come in from Big Lake.
There is a sign posted on the wier that says you must stay 250 feet back from the wier when fishing. The Game wardens do check the wiers for violations. The tickets will cost EACH person in the boat......... $ 225. FYI.....the person in the picture I posted yesterday, sent me a PM. He said he did not know he was doing anything wrong. |
