May I ask what type of issues? I've been eyeing them hard and haven't pulled the trigger yet.

The spool corrodes due to brackish water and the rubber part on the thumb bar fell off. This is only after two months of use.

Bayouchub is correct is saying his spool did corrode, but Shimano is giving out replacement spools that are suppose to take care of the problem. I just got my replacement spool in yesterday, I only fished with mine for 4 trips and had no problems. The reel is super smooth and having the cast control on the outside of the reel is really nice.

Damn chub that sucks. I been wanting one of those. From what I been reading it happened a lot on first gen model and Shimano had addressed it and fixed the spool. I have faith in Shimano to get it right. They have been solid for years. I'm sure this new curado will have the new spool. Did they send you a new spool ?

They offered to but when the piece fell off the thumb bar I gave up on the reel and returned to place of purchase.

a core with waterloo floats enough that you can take our phone out of pocket and get rod once it falls in to water (cork handle)

Only if it's spooled with braid, no fluoro or it's straight to the bottom
