from what I know about it, the 3 blade is more weedless and "supposed" to be quieter because 3 smaller blades cause less vibration (runs smoother) in the water when turning then then 2 blades.
as far as performance, I think they are designed to be the same for speed and torque |

I'm going to compare apples to oranges here. I just went from a motor guide with 3 blade to a minn kota with the 2 blade same thrust. No noticeable speed difference. The huge difference was handling grass. I was forever fighting the MG in lacassine. So much so it took the enjoyment out of it at times. First and only trip so far with the MK was complete opposite. Never had to fight it.

I had a 3 blade and it was always hung in grass it seems. When I bought my first minnkota it had a two blade and it doesn't have any trouble chopping through some grass. I'd have to say the two blade is better for grass by a long shot, but maybe my MG was just crap...

Well I know 2 blades are recommended for mud motors when going though mostly veggies so I would think it would be the same concept for trolling motors

this is a good read about the differences in both props: http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fis...?topic=55521.0

Observation - one man gives his opinion on 3 blades being seedless, which is completely opposite of the real life experience of more than one person on this thread.

mini kota
I just swapped a three blade motor guide for a two blade mini kota with the more trust and the two blade prop. Can't wait to see how she handles.

they sell the 3 blade props as being "weedless" props but from what you guys are saying I guess that's just BS false advertising to sell them.
I never had the need to raise mine to clear it, I just bump it on high and it chops right through any weeds it has on it like a lawn mower. what about metal vs plastic? what do you guys think of the metal props? good, better, just the same but more durable, or not worth it? from what i experienced friday at the rock, the 3 blade seems louder and doesn't pull as strong, i didn't get in any vegetation so i can't comment on that but i will definitely be putting the 2 blade back on i will keep the 3 blade in the boat in case i break my 2 blade

After several trips to lacassine, I stand by my previous observation. The 2 blade will outperform the 3 blade in vegetation. No comparison at all.
