Rules clearly state that you can only have 3 shells in your gun for migratory birds. Why would ya'll want to risk a fine for one more shot?
I just don't think the ticket or fine is worth it. And posting about breaking the law on an open forum is not smart at all. Just saying. |

I've been checked my game wardens before and they took my gun and shells and loaded the gun for themselves to see how many shells it would hold. I doubt they would care how, or why, a shotgun held more than 3 for migratory birds, but I bet if it did you would get a ticket even if your shotgun had the factory plug installed.

It is not against the law for your gun to hold more than 3. It's against the law to hunt with more than 3. Catching violators is hard to do. But if they suspect you or if someone reports you they will watch you.
Easiest way to catch violators is when they brag or talk about what laws they are breaking. |

When I have been checked, they remove all shells and stick a green rubber water
hose with a piece of elect. tape on it. If the tape goes into the gun, your busted. They also dragged the bottom of the blind and the pond, with their hands to check for empty lead hulls. Then the grabbed a hand full of shells from each box in the blind to check and see if we were hiding lead shells in the bottom of the box. They move everything in and around the blind, then the boat to see if you are hiding anything anywhere. They even move your brush around to check for ducks or for empty shells that held lead shot. They know what to look for and how to look for it. |

It is called the "Benilli Push" and I resort to it quite often to shoot cripples. First time I was checked in the pipeline canal my gun was new and the warden had to ask me to take all of the shells out of the mag he had loaded. I almost told him he should not play with guns he knew nothing about but my calmer side won out.
