Tohatsu builds all Mercs 30hp and under. They also build all Nissans. All 4 stroke 25hp motors are anemic compared to the 2 stroke. The king of the NEW 25's right now is the E-Tec. It is a 35 cubic inch, 2 cylinder, DFI, torque monster. Will pull 2 4 stroke 25's backwards, carry double the load and run with them, burn close to the same amount of gas.

I have a 2011 Merc 25 HP 4 stroke with electric start. I love it. Reliable, sips gas, quiet, starts quickly. It pulls my 15' 52" john boat with 1 person about 27-28 mph. I use it 4 times for every 1 time I use my bay boat.

When it comes to outboards, there is no manufacturer that builds the best of all sizes. The 25 E-Tec is a beast, the 40 E-Tec,,,not so much. D |

Well he ordered his Southfork and 25 Mercury 4-Stroke. We shall see how it does when they are finished with it.
Thanks for the help and information! |
