I have a 12' x 32" alum. boat with a small go-devil.

The boat is rated for max of 8 hp. I tried a 15 hp outboard on it. After I put some weight up front, it would really get up and going. Don't know how fast it was going....I did not bring my GPS, but it was way to fast to feel safe in that small of a boat.

That outboard did not start easily and was not reliable so I did not ever use it on a hunt. It would have "kicked azz" compaired to the go-devil.

they were getting 85 horsepower out of some of the 40 mercs but it was hard to find a hull that would use all the power without pounding you to death.

Marsh runner? Like the old ones? They started making them again, they tried selling my dad one for me, said it was LIGHT, aint nothing light about the new ones.

marshrunners were good boats, little heavy vs aluminum but with a wide bottom you dont lose much speed. they a lot better ride and quiet.

In order to go that fast on that small of a boat you would need atleast a 28 pitch prop. They do not make a 28 pitch prop for a v4 lower unit, unless it was custom made. Show me a video with a gps saying your going 65 and I might belive it.

You can thank the EPA for that. In the next few years there will be ZERO 2 strokes on the market. 2009 was the last year for any carb 2 strokes, now all there building in the plants are DFI motors like the optimax.
