Default 10/4/14 Post front fishing!!

Day 2 with Quality Machine Works was a challenge to say the least. Yesterday we fished thru the front and today the wind was up and the temperatures were down. Jody, Seth, Tyler, and John had high expectations but as I was crossing the lakes they came to terms we were in for a battle. Post front fishing requires you to find clean water and be patient. Sounds easy but I think too many people fish 'spots' and waste half their day looking at dirty water because they are hitting their spots. The strong north wind had us running north. We found fishable water and started chunking Matrx Shrimp Creole under a cork. We drifter until we caught a fish and dropped the Powerpole. Cast for a few minutes and if we caught we stuck around if not we continued drifting. That was the technique for the day except when we found a few flocks of birds diving on shrimp, then the double rigs came out. The trout under the birds were 12-13inches while the trout off reefs and points ran up to 17 inches. For most of the areas we fished we caught enough to keep us interested and by the end of the day we had a solid box. Thanks Capt. Marty for running the second boat.
