Default V-Bay Report 6-25

Just got in from offshore so I decided to make a solo trip this morning to V-Bay. Hit the banks of Marsh Island and picked up 2 Reds and 1 Flounder on Natural Voodoo Shrimp. Picked up and headed to the pass but didnt like the color of the water, guess the east wind is making it dirty. Headed back to where I started in the morning and quickly picked up 3 more Reds on the rootbeer Voodoo Shrimp.

I have one complaint about the Voodoo. The hooks seem to be too open, I missed 2 nice reds before I bent the hook in some, after that I didnt miss another fish. Anyone else notice this?

Default Monday morning

Went Monday morning saw how pretty water was n decided to try cove area first for some trout. Ended up with 13 nice keeper trout and 2 reds. Caught just as many 11.5 incher trout also. Various color gulp baits on jig heads bouncing bottom.

I always pass and try the cove but never seem to have any luck with the trout. I usually fish the artificial reef, guess I need to troll around more to try to find them.

Thanks for the report.

Default Confidence

This is the first good trip I've had at the cove area. I say good not just based on the keepers but the fact that we were basically consistently catching or at least hooking trout for a few hours. I think confidence is 75% of fishing. We caught one rather quickly and them saw bait being chased so I knew without a doubt there were trout to be caught. Once I had that mind set I was able to figure it out. That being said the bite died around 930 and for 3 more hours we might have caught 6 trout total with only 2 keepers. So timing as in any aspect of life is very important. If you don't think you are going to catch than surely you will not! It's hard to always be confident but I definitely learned a few things that morning. Also I'm relatively new to speck fishing inshore(fished mostly at rigs with a friend) until last year. The water looked good it was early morning and a rising tide so now I know if those variables match up I will be confident enough to give it a good try.
