Default Catfish Flipping tool

Hello,
In the past I have seen a catfish flipping tool that has a white Teflon looking handle that is about 1" around. I want to get one of these for someone but I can't seem to locate one anywhere or know who the manufacture is so that I can research it on line. I have a tool already so I am not looking for and dehooker. I am looking for the one that has the white Teflon handle that is almost the length of the flipping tool. Any idea where I can get one of these in the Lafayette area or online? Thanks in advance for your help.

Just get you a welding rod or small diameter brazing rod and shape it yourself to what you need. That's all I've used for years, inexpensive and works just the same.

my grandfather used to just grind the point off of an ice pick, heat it up cherry red, and then bend the tip over to make his own

Academy or walmart. Both have them. The cheap metal one at academy is like $.99. I got a nice one with a rubber grip from walmart for like $5.

i use long handle pliers, just grab the hook with the pliers and flip. i've probably made a hundred out of welding rods. 5/32 rod is best, 1/8 ain't bad but will bend.

Stainless or inconel 1/8 won't bend much or rust for that matter. 5/32 would be sturdier I agree but also hard to bend with pliers the way I make them

I made a foam handle for mine. That way when you drop it in the water it will float.

Thanks gents, I have a flipping tool as I mentioned in my initial post, the one I am looking for with the white Teflon handle is round and solid (Works wonders on knocking those bottom feeders out).

Forgive my ignorance but what is it used for? I have caught an unhooked hundreds of catfish but never used anything like that. Really serious about its use.

You can flip fish off of your hook without ever touching it.

To "flip" the catfish with this tool, you hold the string in one hand about 6" from the fish. Then you hook the end of the tool down as low on the hook as you can. The tool needs to be down on the "bend" part of the hook. If the hook is too deep in the fishes mouth, this will not work.

With the tool down around the hook, spread your hands some so that both hands are to the side of the fish. Hold the fish over the side of the boat. Now "flip" the fish in a circular motion [see video that was posted in earlier post].

If you have the tool down around the circular part of the hook, this will rip the hook out and the fish will flip down into the water.
