what if you are fishing for birds. them gulls make a heck of a stew with some gaftops throwed in.

Trout don't care what you throw at them when they're under the birds. That's why most anglers keep a "bird box." Old, discarded lures get tossed in the bird box because in the eyes of the trout any an all baits are wanted.

It doesn't matter what kind of failure those lures were previously, because no baits are unwanted by trout under the birds.

Last year I was making a meat haul and the only thing they would hit was topwater. Was very odd.

We fished the lil baby spooks and badonkadonks under the birds, in cold rough weather. Caught guud.
