Online the should have a forum just like this for that area... best advice i can give is bring a florocarbon leader and deck the reels out wuith braid... around the pass you can catch red fish along with mangro snapper. in the bay if you can find shallow grass flats free line Live shrimp with a small hook and try your look on trout, also troll peirs with live bait might find reds and specks hanging around the peirs... but right now the fish are mstly on shallow grass flats and in the pass.... if you fish the pass fish shallow early and move deeper as the day progresses. Goodluck

You might try posting at Pensacola Fishing Forum.

Sorry, I've never fished it, but I expect it might make for a great fishing/beach vacation without paying Pensacola hotel prices.

Please post some reports here to start building a knowledge base.

Fish the docks on Ono Island under the lights at night. Live shrimp on floro will catch them. Top water/Mirrodines early in the morn on grass flats in same area.

Watched a youtube vid of a guy in gulf shores wade out, catch, and drag an 8' hammerhead on the beach by hand. Thats what I would do bro. You would be the sc man after that.

I kayak and boat fish the area, contact me closer to that time and I'll point you to a few spots. Everything I fish is near the Fort Morgan end.

Thanks....We are staying near the pass at the east end of Orange Beach on the Ole river. The kiddos really wanna get on the nearshore species....ling, mangrove, and possibly grouper. Imma try to google some nearshore reefs. I'll definitly holler back before we roll out.

Most likely august you won't find Ling, there migration is right now. Mangrove and grouper and red snapper can be found at the nearshore reefs. Also you can troll the beach about 1mile out for kings and bonito. Typically I look for 65-75 ft of water for that And tie on a rapala deep dive troll bait or a stretch 25. Purple/black, blue/black, pink, and mahi color have worked for me in the past.

We do down to GS and stay at the Caribe every year for the 4th and I bring the boat. We try and make one or two fishing trips while we are there. Last year we found some cobia between the sand bars just off of the beach, and a few specks on the drop off in Terry cove. We tried running offshore of snapper one year but it was a bust. It is a different kind of fishing over there. The best thing about bringing the boat is the sights at Robinson island. We only go to the beach one day and the rest we spend on the island. We also took a day and went to Destin in the boat. Several islands in the back bay had topless women tanning.

I just got back from my annual boat run there........this year we took a party barge from Diversion Canal in Port Vincent to Orange Beach.......got up Saturday and headed to Destin........is was a hoot.......always is.

The water is struggling to recover from the heavy rains and crab island water Saturday looked more like sweet tea then emerald green.

Not sure if that will have lasting effects on the fishing in August.

Under the lights as someone mentioned and I am pretty sure you can go om-line and find some public man made reefs.

I have pounded the snapper the last couple years stumbling across a reef or two.

Also, many captains down there will step on your boat and take you to private spots.

bottom fishing there is really really good.
