Default How do you fish your cocohoes?

Hey guys,
I have fished plastic cocohoes for years and have always used a slow straight retrieve but have been seeing some guys on TV fishing shows fishing the by letting them drop to the bottom then snapping them off of the bottom. A lot like we use to fish Little Georges while bass fishing.

I am doing a poll to see how most people fish them. Please vote and also tell my why you fish them the way you do.

Thanks for participating.

Charlie

I fish them by dragging bottom, then popping them up. Obviously the cadence and everything changes depending on the fish.

Very seldom do I just drag it slowly.

When the water is cold and they are deep I cast and let them sit and drag them very slow. Sometimes it is hard to know you have a bite. During warmer weather I pop them off of the bottom reeling low. Then sometimes I will fish them under a cork. A cocohoe has to be the most versatile bait there is. What ever it takes to get a bite is what I do. It is crazy what they will want from day to day

But then again we have been drifting Lake Ameda in January and the trout wanted a opening night cacahoe 2 feet under a cork, popped as hard and as fast as you could ??? Best thing is let the fish tell you what they want

I do both, snapping off the bottom imitates a shrimp jumping and it triggers strikes that way and the cast and straight retrieve is for a baitfish imitation so if they are feeding on shrimp a snap action or cork which gives you the same jerky shrimp imitation will do good and when they are feeding on baitfish the slow retrieve works good as well as a cork if slowly dragged along or just occasionally popped but letting it sit still mostly with it drifting with the current if you can and just the water ripples will give it a little tail wiggle to make it look like its swimming in place or if its flat calm I will give it little tugs about an inch or two but not popping it.
