Everyone has different preferences and I'm sure you will get 10 different brands thrown at you. Best advice I can give you is check the warranty, it normally lets you know if what you're buying is quality.

I had a CS J-16. I beat the heck out of that sucker and could not hurt it. I believe you can get them in brown now too, so it would work for hunting. I am 6'4 and 230 pounds and it was very stable with me in it. With my 25hp Nissan on it, it would get up to 28mph GPS with me in it. The only thing you have to be careful with is real sharp turns at speed. The flat bottom will skip if you go to fast. The nice thing about them is you can buy the bare hull and CS makes all kinds of decks and consoles for them. I believe Blacks Marine sells them in Lafayette. Go check them out! I sold mine at four years old (motor was a '93) with a trailer (2008), trolling motor, batteries and stuff for $2500 last fall. There are deals on them if you look around.

Check out the Gator Tails. I haven't had mine long but I really like it. Its 17x54 and is plenty stable for fishing. If I hadn't got called back to work 2 dang weeks early I'd be more than happy to take you out in it. But I'd be more than happy to in 4-5 weeks when I get back.

anyone been in one of the boats built for a surface drive but powered by an outboard? I saw several of these on the next when looking for flats boats and they claim they are fast and super tuff.
