Thoughts, Nautic Star 2200 or Sea Hunt BX22
For both I am looking at getting the Yamaha 150 (185). I don't plan on much off shore, mostly in shore, near shore with a little barrier island hoping mixed in. Thoughts? |

Ur gonna Need more engine on the sea hunt. the 150 is a jOke on that heavy boat.
And the nautic star will underperform with the 150. |

I would go with the sea hunt. But it is under powered. My next boat will be the sea hunt bx24

I'm with purebay on this one, I like my nautic star but I would think you would want more motor on a 22' than a 150. With only 150lb difference in hulls I would think the Nautic star would be a dog with the 150.

i called a dealer the other day, they can order a tournament model and place a f200 on it for low 40s r you can get the tournament model u see n dealers now with the yam 250 sho for 44-45k that has all the bells and whistles. the one with the regular 200 r 250 doesnt have reverse color bottom paint, trim tabs bucket sets led light inside and out. etc.

Ok, so the nautic star hull is good to go?
I will probably end up with the sport, it is only available with the 150, but in actual numbers it is only 15 hp behind the 200. From looking at different models on the Yamaha performance website there isn't much difference between the 150 and 200 in performance. To get a 250 would be a 25% increase over getting one of the package specials with a 150. |

I was just at Aqua Marine in Denham Springs today and they had a 21' SE (special edition) Nautic Star. Talk about a sweet boat. It's layout is almost identical to the tournament edition and it has three jump seats in the back.

The big differance between the 21se and the 2200 is in the beam the 21 is 92" and the 22 is 102". It doesnt sound like much but it makes a world of differance when fishing with 4 adults .

I want the extra 10" of beam. I am going to try to get a ride in a 2200 with a 150, especially before I write a check for one. The new yamaha 150's put out way more than 150hp... With tabs and a proper prop I think I will be ok. I will try to get a ride in a bx22 also.

No doubt. I think you should always try and get close to max hp no matter what you are buying. If you want the power, you got it. The 150 at cruse will not be much better on gas, if any than the 250 at the same speed.

Always think of resale even if your buying. Go big or go home
