Default 200 Yammy on a 21' Skeeter...

I have a question regarding props. NOT ONE DAMN THING TO DO WITH A HAYNIE!!

The boat has a 3 blade prop on it now and I'm not sure of the pitch. The owner wants to go to a 4 blade prop because he thinks it would do better. Is this so and what are the benefits?...Holeshot?...Fuel economy?...

The owner happens to be a dear friend of mine and lets me use this boat as I please so, if there are advantages, I plan to buy one for the boat as a showing of gratitude.

Montauk? Anybody?

Find out what brand and pitch the prop is. Also how many rpm's it turns at WOT. 4 blade will see very little benefit on that style of boat. About the only thing that would improve would be the handling in the turns. The biggest concern is the prop needs to let the motor turn the correct amount of rpm's with a normal load. If it is a 2 stroke it needs to be around 5,500 rpm's 4 stroke is 6,000.

WOT is roughly 5500. I've never pushed it there but, had it close. To me, it does great but, he also pulls his boys wakeboarding with it so, there may be the difference. He seems to think that a 4 blade will give him a better holeshot or torque.

That is a big negative...can't tell you how many people I had to explain that to. Some people want one cause they "look" cool.

That's what I needed to know. So, when he asks again, I can save him/me some $$$! Thanks for all the input! To me, the boat leaps out of the hole and runs pretty nice as well. Last weekend we were at 4200rpm and 43mph according to my gps.

Paint never holds up on props...I could care less what it looks like as long as it performs!
