Default 19 to 21 pitch.

I have a 112 Johnson on a 17ft cc. I wanted to try out the 21 pitch prop this weekend. Currently have a 19 pitch on there. And gps say 30, full throttle. 30 gallons gas 2 people and ice chest. Rpm gauge stopped working. Will this 21 pitch change anything. Just wondering.

RPM should drop 100-200 per inch of pitch. So if you go bigger no worry.

Do you remember how many rpm's you were getting wide open? Like already said you will loose 400 rpm's from whatever the 19 pitch you are running now. With my experience with props I doubt you will be able to turn the 21 pitch at the correct rpm range for your motor. You need to be at 5,500 rpm's with a v4 johnson. I have the same motor and I run a 19 pitch on a 1,000 pound boat.

Call a prop shop there is a lot of diff props out some are made for lifting the boat out of the water. This could get you more mph but may also be a little more costly.
