Default 115 johnson 98 model

Yes I just bought a pro master bay boat it belong to and old guy who kept it strictly in garage and only used it once. When I got it home yesterday it would crank then it stop and just clicks when I listened to engine the selenoid is clicking sounds like it needs new selenoid are starter. Just would like some one elses thoughts on this. Its only 210 to replace both which is not bad but justvwant to hear yall thoughts.

that model starter is easy to rebuild...alot of times the brushes dont make good enough contact to spin the starter gear up to the flywheel..if the starter gear is spinning but not engaging to the flywheel the brushes just may need to be cleaned. And check all of your connections too. I would have a local starter/altenator shop take a look at the starter before buying a new one.

I would be lying on battery being fully charge now it was cranking but when I got it home to run it ittried rolling over but eventually selenoid just kept on clicking. I went ahead and ordered a new selenoid since there 35 bucks but my worry is will a engine shop carry those type of orders on hand are will they have to order it I am going to buy a new battery for it to. Plus it looks like from the ignition to battery might need to wire.

I also had this motor, one thing about it is that it would have to be almost perfectly level across the top in order to start. It was a little rough to get going after that it ran ran fine. Is it the SPL model?
