Default proposed 1-2 day red snapper season for 2015

http://www.nola.com/outdoors/index.s...ant_porti.html

I don't care what kind of spin you try to put on it. When you set aside a portion of the TAC for business use, it's commercial, not recreational. When you tell the average person that they can not buy a license and catch red snapper unless they pay a third party to take them fishing, you have taken that angler out of the recreational sector and placed them in the commercial sector.

just my opinion

I don't really get into snapper fight because it's the most absurd thing ever ! I have been working in Gulf Of Mexico for 15 years and traveled from High Island block to Grand Isle block

I have seen so many red snapper on platforms it's sick !! I watched charter boats catch 100 and throw em all back to keep two biggest and see 60 of the 100 float off dead
( not charter boats fault he has paying people to catch two snapper and they want to let others go)

I see red snapper so thick on top of the water it was solid red for as far down as you could see

I seen work boats catch supper every day !!

Red Snapper might be the most abundant fish in the gulf next to mullet

Feds are freaken RETARDS beyond measures !!

Agreed W. We fished 30-60 miles off a week ago and couldn't keep the snapper off our hooks. I have no idea how many we caught but it was crazy.

Default Snapper

We will be lucky to get anything over a week and a half. Just a prediction.

I am on the committee that will decide the allocation to give to the charter boats this year. Let it be known that Louisiana is 100% for regional separation, meaning that we get to control all waters south of our state. Whether or not that will happen is anyone's guess at this point. We will have a meeting in the beginning of December to decide how to proceed with these issues.

Rumor I am hearing from the higher ups in the Gulf Council is that the other states, besides Texas, are shooting for a 1 fish per man limit, to be able to run the season longer. Will have more updates in the next few weeks.

I agree. I might as well just stay inshore and keep scratching out my 5-10 trout trips than burn 40 gallons of fuel to catch my "limit" in one drop.

Its ashame that we live next to the a gulf which is so rich in natural food sources and the government prevents us from enjoying it.

I cant stand outlaws but this **** is giving me the urge more and more each year to say F-IT and geaux fill up the fish box.

Disclaimer: I have never and will NEVER break the law by exceeding my limit of fish but that doesnt mean dumb *** laws dont give me the urge to!
