they are good for really windy days when you need to fish slow

I got one for my boat but have never used it. My boat drifts pretty slow already.
I did use one in another boat on occassions. If you boat drifts too fast, you may want to try one. |

So, 90% of the time you won't use one... because most times you aren't out there when the wind is kicking anyhow?

used them drifting the reefs and they work great. they can slow your drift but they can also be used to change the angle of the drift and the angle of the boat while drifting. Takes a lil practice but you can set up your drift where the drift socks will keep your boat at the optimum angle for every one to cast to the fish.
But you need 2 drift socks to really do anything besides slow down your drift. |

Use one and like it but I fish out of an 18' aluminum flat. Without it, even on a not so windy day I jet across the reefs too fass.
