It all depends how much rain "flood water up north" if it continues to flow this way, its over if the locks stay open and the water continues to flow...it did this last yr and it was done

LNG may be a good bet fishing. Drop offs from 8 to 25 fish the ledge slow. Go to a 1/2 oz jig head and use small baits. 3.5 inch Wedgetail would be my choice.

The Trout will stay in the deeper river channel water [ie. saltier water] for a while, but if the "fresh" water keeps coming from up river.....all the water will have less salt, so the trout head down south.
I got almost 4" rain a couple of days ago and the area up river got quite a bit of rain. But if there is not much rain in the next couple of weeks, the salinity might start to come back up by the end of the month. The Calcasieu river water is very muddy now but the water level did not rise too much. |

i've fished v. bay last year when the salinity level was under 1.0ppt and we'd do pretty good. 20ish fish a trip.. just had to fish real real slow and tip your jig with some skrimp. It was around the same time of year. |

according to my charts... this time last year the speck fish were pushing out at 5ppt. gotta find deeper water on the channels. wouldnt waste my time in north lc. wouldnt even try with anything below 2ppt.
after the big rains last year it pretty much shut down completely except for the redfish. Nov and Dec are good months for north lc but once those locks start pouring out the water you'd be better off in BL or atleast prien. |

A lot of rain will push salt water out of Lake Charles and Prien.
Slow flow fresh water will go on top. Fast flow will push it all out, unless you find some dead ends or off the channel. That won't push them out for long, but it will push them out. |
