Default False River Bass

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you bass fish false river during the winter. I've been looking for new places to try and I've been here only 2 times, once to ski and other was with a friend who didn't really fish, but we caught a few. It seems like the water would stay pretty, also looks like wind can be a pain, but hopefully it holds some nice fish.

is it that bad? We caught about 4 in the hour I got to fish that one time.. no size but it seemed like the lake should hold some fish.

We had a couple tournaments there and if I never fish there again I'd be ok with it lol IMO there are far better lakes in the winter but if just a change in scenery is what your looking for go for it , try chicot cocodrie or Indian creek all fantastic winter lakes

Indian creek is one of my favorites no doubt. Tough place to fish but I like it, but since I moved it's an hour away from me. Chicot used to be a favorite, haven't fished it in a while, and it's not as far as Indian creek, so I may go back there. I haven't figured out how to get into cocodrie lol where's the launch at?

Anyone ever try the mermentau river? Is it always dirty? Where's the launches?

My 10 lb was caught in feb at false river . the same time (w/in 30 min) a 12 lb was caught 5 piers down. The group i fished w/ all have 7 lb + fish .
Then the LMBV hit. no more 10 lb fish but still some 7s and 8s.
False river holds some BIG fish . But seriously hard to catch . except for a short time each year. There are some secrets and places that will pay off if you want to dress for the cold and put the time in.
