I'm looking at a small 14 ft flat with a 15hp Honda 4 Stroke engine for hunting. What's your opinions on the little hondas? I don't know too much about them.

the little Hondas are all made by tohatsu so why not just buy the tohatsu and save a few hundred while getting the same motor with a different color paint.

I would also never get anything under a 25 hp for a 14ft flatboat unless you never plan to get on a plane or go fast

I thought under 30hp it was Tohatsu, Nissan and Mercury that were the same?

Nissan is a tohatsu, they are like evinrude/Johnson

I know the small Hondas are made by tohatsu and other brands may use them too but I cant say which ones for sure other then Honda because I just researched them a month ago.

most manufacturers are paying the other manufacturers like tohatsu to make their motors and rebadge them with their name which is what Honda does. its a lot cheaper then trying to make their own small motors so it makes more sense to rebadge a motor made by another outboard maker like tohatsu so they can offer the smaller motors but still concentrate all of their research, manufacturing costs, and development on the bigger motors.

cant say who makes the small yamaha and mercury motors, I think Yamaha still makes their own but don't know if mercury uses tohatsu motors

Yep, all Mercury under 30 are built by Tohatsu.
