Default SEI Lower Unit

Anyone have any experience with one on a Johnson 90hp?

I can't decide if they are any good or not. I know they Re terrible when it comes to Yamaha but the others I'm not sure.

Inboard or outboard? How much HP?

I'm really not sure what to do. I have one at the shop but told the owner not to install it until I call him Monday. I may have it sent back and just eat the 10% restocking fee + shipping.

Installed several for friends and customers only had one yamaha one fail but they replaced it no questions asked. The 3 year no fault warranty is hard to beat.

Yeah the warranty is nice, but down time and paying someone 75 bucks an hour to rmove and install the unit plus shipping is what I'm thinking about. I've just reading differing posts so I can't make up my dern mind.

Montauk17, what outboards did you put them on and do they have any hours on them yet?

I put one on a friends 225 merc and he runs it 2 or 3 times a month was over 3 years ago. Not sure about the others I installed they were customers but none called back. Only had one yamaha 150 one give out the second trip out but they replaced it no questions asked. If it makes it any easier to decide I never had much sucess rebuilding a johnson lower unit and no mechanic will beat the sei warranty.

Thanks for the info guys.

Montauk, no success eh? I sure hope SEI knows what they are doing because its goin in this week. It's my stepdads boat and he said its here so just install it. I just hope the supposed Chinese gears hold up.

If I get it back from the shop before Friday I will start the break in procedure this weekend!
