The old garmin 182 finally died. Any suggestions on the best gps for under $600. Fiishing Big Lake and Vermillion Bay area out of SW pass.

Default My Choice
Just got Garmin 541S with my new boat and really like it. Easy to use and the US Coastal Map comes preloaded and has some really good detail. I looked at the 545S, but the cost would have put me over the top on what I wanted to spend, so I took the 541 and thus far it has been a good choice.

My 441s does great inshore and in deep water(had it 800ft and it did fine).......I wouldn't want a touch screen.....a few oily finger prints and you cant see anything

441s, 541s, and 546s are the most common units. Very easy to use and chart has good detail for the area.

I love my HDS 7 and 5. I can tell you when I am on a reef or not by looking at the sonar. That said, I don't think any of them are "bad" any more.
