Default Honeymoon/fishing destinations??

I think I remember someone here going not long ago? Anyone have any suggestions or experiences??? My fiance' wants to catch a sailfish or marlin. Stayed at sandals Whitehouse in Jamacia last summer but didn't fish because I heard it wasn't good. Where ever we go, would like to fish 2 of the 7 days we would be there.

I'm going to the island of Antigua in March. Not quite Marlin season there yet but I'm gonna give it a shot. What time of year are you going?

Offshore Fishing Discussion: Cabo San Lucas 5-27-13 (Pic Heavy) - SaltyCajun.com

Went to cabo in May on my honeymoon and would recommend it to anyone. Marlin over there are like hardheads, it's almost guaranteed.

Small resort called Cocobay. I'm not a big fan of huge resorts like Sandals. She wanted to stay there, but I used my superior google powers to change her mind lol. The reviews say this place is top notch and we got the premium waterfront suite, so she is happy.

Went to sandals in Montego Bay this past april and went on the fishing trip that they offer there and was not impressed at all. The day before we went they only caught one tuna and that's all we caught the next day. Have a friend that went to Costa Rica and they caught lots of fish there. He said he would recommend going there.

I have been to both Cabo and Costa Rica. Both are very nice but very different places. Costa Rica has a more of a defined middle class as opposed to Mexico that is either "have or have nots". I caught more fish including marlin in Cabo however there is more to do in Costa Rica.

With all of that being said, my choice would be Costa Rica given the other activities that we did but, if fishing is your primary goal (marlin) then Cabo is hard to beat.

Key West is a nice spot for a honeymoon and the fishing is pretty good. Make sure spring break is over

Another recommendation for cabo. I went on my honey moon. Caught marlin dolphin and wahoo. I'm going back next may and will be headed out with red rum. Picante and Pisces are also top notch charter but they're more pricey than red rum. We probably saw 10-12 marlin the day I went and it was rough. See a lot better on calm days. Ill also be targeting some rooster fish when we go back.

We are looking at Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo for ours.... Zihu is a small fishing village that's not overly commercialized. We are doing a billfish trip and a rooster trip also...

I went to St. Lucia last november. Stayed at Sandals Halcyon but went eat dinner at The Grande one night. It is a very big and nice resort.

However, if I had it to do over I wouldnt stay at Sandals. It is definitely designed for couples and they take care of everything. If you are after that kind of honeymoon it is petfect. I prefer a little more adventure and to get out and mingle with the locals more. We did take a day to go into the city and eat the local food which was nice. Just try to do expeditions that are not associated with sandals. Sandals excursions seem to give you the bare minimum experience.

I did not fish there bc I couldnt find a guide service with good reviews that I thought would actually try to put me on good fish.

I guess the bottom line is I am spoiled by deep sea fishing out of Venice.

Next vacation will be Cabo!
