Default 1st trip offshore

Gonna make my first trip starting Thursday and coming back Sunday. I'm kinda nervous about getting sea sick so throw me out some tips. I know about the Dramamine it also heard it makes you drowsy. Let me know what you got.

Start taking it today and you will be use to it by the time your trip comes around. Don't get to drunk the night before.

Don't think about it and you won't get sick.

Don't worry bout it. That's what gets you sick. Get a prescription for the transoderm scope ear patch. Bring along some ginger ale and make sure you eat while you're out there even if you're not hungry.

Do you get car sick or air sick? Also people who get ear infections are more prone to sea sickness I find. I would say make sure you drink water and eat. Bring some dramamine with you just in case but its supposed to be pretty calm all weekend.

Yes, I've gotten car sick and sick in a helicopter before. Both times I was sitting in the back seat and I've flown in the chopper 3 times before this time and never got sick.

Honestly, the best way for you not to get sea sick is to let me go in your place.

It does have a cabin. I got a call into to the doc to see what's best. Hopefully I can get something prescribed before we leave.

If you get car sick or sick in a chopper, you need the Transderm patches. They are good for 3 days once applied and will dry you out in the mouth and nose. No matter how calm it is, sounds like you have an excess amount of fluid on your inner ear which will lead to motion sickness. You will be miserable without it so put it on before you get there, and change it out on Saturday morning. Don't ruin your trip fighting that or anyone else for that matter. Good luck and let us know how you do. Also, Dramamine will make you sleepy, but you can bring some anyway in case you need extra help. You can take it while wearing the patch!

Dramamine (anti-motion sickness) works good coupled with a syringe of promethazine (anti-nausea) in cream form. You squirt the promethazine onto your wrist and rub them together til it dissolves. But as stated before, a lot of it is mental. I feel queezy everytime I go but I know it's gonna pass. If you freak out and worry yourself to death about getting sick, you will be sick.

With that being said, I've been sick as sick gets, so it does happen. People who say, "I've never gotten seasick" haven't been in rough enough seas!

I hope it will be slick out there . I think we will be goin about 150 miles out so hopefully it's calm. I just or te scopolamine patch called out and ill get the bromine to go along with it. I'm done worrying about the sickness part of it. If it happens it happens, I'm teddy to catch some fish and enjoy being out there.

stay away from greasy foods like sausage. eat ham/turkey sandwiches but not too much mayo, preferably just a little mustard. don't eat a lot of sweets like honey buns or eclaires or doughnuts. drink plenty of, but not too much, water. if you feel yourself getting queezy look towards the horizon. avoid bending down to get bait or pick up fish off deck. this can get you sick faster than anything. stay out of the back of the boat and engine fumes. don't get too overheated either. stay in the shade when possible.
