Lenco trim tab question

Is there any maintenance that needs to be done on this brand of trim tabs. Can the shaft be greased?

ever so often when I'm messing around on my boat. I move them up and down to make sure everything is working.

Today I did that and it sounded like the motor on one of them didn't want to engage then it kicked on really loud like usual sound they make. Any ideas what's wrong.

Lawrence, I don't have Lenco, but I've never done anything to my Bennett's and never had a problem.

are they electric? if so take em off and exchange em for bennett hydraulic ones..

I have been running the electrical Lenco trim tabs since 08', no issues at all. No oil. No maintenance beside general cleaning. I have the auto retract when you shut the engine off.....

I had lenco tabs on my pathfinder and the did same thing. I took them apart and found some moisture had gotten in I cleaned them up and regressed with marine grade and fixed em up.

I have that too but it's not hooked up. Dealer didn't do it o guess. Mine are only 2 years old well on may 8 they Wil be 2

Quite possibly the switch.

True could be moisture in the switch

My lenco's have been a dream. I do have the upgraded switch which is nice. If they are only 2 years old give lenco a call. They generally take care of their customers.

Now neither one of my trim tabs work when I press the up or down switch on the console. Anyone have any ideas

sorry but i have to laugh at this. lol this sounds like something that usually happens to me. I have no advice for you though. Make sure all the wires are plugged into the switch, batteries charged, fuses aren't burnt, make sure your battery switch is turned to on lol.. that's all I know.

Don't take this the wrong way but are you sure you're battery is fully charged? Either that or it might be a loose connection somewhere but for one to stop working and then the other right after sounds like the battery.

Exactly why I don't have trim tabs...

Ever been in a boat where one was stuck in the down position? That's a crappy day

Batteries are fully charged according to the charger. Lights are green. These batteries are only 2 years old

sounds like a fuse, loose connection, corrosion on a connection, or a bad switch

Where are the fuses located. The tabs should be connected to cracking battery right. I'll check that this afternoon when I get off. Hopefully it's just a fuse.

probably where ever your batteries are. There may also be an inline fuse or one of these in the back where the connections are

a voltmeter is a necessity when you own a boat, this will help you find your problem

yes... test the wires going to the switch, if theres power, then keep testing down the line
