Don't think I've ever heard of that in the gulf...but try a tube on the east coast of FL and you could end up in Bermuda.

Sand build up probably is from the strong south winds. There can be a decent side shore current with the right wind and tide conditions. I wouldn't call it a rip current... Go fish.

Dry Parish!!!
Just kidding. There are bars but very slight. I think it is related to the very gradual slope of the beach/nearshore bottom. |

LOL... Dry County.. that was good. Made me spew coffee on the keyboard.
Why no bars... the rocks alter the typical flow pattern. (left side of photo) increased flow between the rock groins and reduced flow behind them allowing sand to fall out in reduced flow. (right side photo) If you look on the right side of the photo past the rocks, the guts and bars start again. |

thank-you....I understand why rocks would disrupt sand bars, but I'm referring to the are in front of holly beach all the way to the ferry.
