I just recently got hooked on the Power Pro braid, 20 lb test. I had used Fire Line in the past, but didn't really care for it, but this Power Pro has the diameter of 8lb test Mono and it doesn't kink up. I would definitely recommend it...especially if you want to cast 100 yards!

Why tie on a leader w/ braid? Wouldn't that just defeat the purpose? or have an extra know to break?

Braided nylon is the best thing to use in the surf on bigger rods...

Picked up a 9ftr the other day for my Penn baitcaster. Need to string it up! Have some 30lb mono, but I know theres better out there for a bigger pole.

There is no one line for every application. I would never dream of fishing braid with top water plugs for trout. No stretch = hooks ripped out of mouths. I use mono for top water. I like that it stretches and it doesn't sink. Perfect application for topwater. Jig fishing for trout, with sand eels or trout killers or whatever, I use flurocarbon. Abrasion resistant on oysters and very little stretch. I have braid on one rod and that is my flounder fishing rod. No need to re-tie with braid and flounder teeth. No stretch for good hook sets in a flounder's hard mouth.

X2 right on! I use Sufix elite mono on top, Seaguar inviz-x fluorocarbon for about everything else. i only use braid if i have to.. i usually reserve it for very specific situations or conditions... not that there's anything wrong with braided lines, lots of people love them, myself included... i just prefer other lines if conditions permit. |

Exactly. Braid seems to be made for flounder fishing. I don't use it for anything else. This is the very specific situation in where I will use it. I only have it on one rod. |
