We tried launching out of Hebert's to fish weirs yesterday. Got beat to death. Few rat reds.
Fished west cove today. Went out to the island. North wind had the water blown out so much we couldn't even get close enough to stay out the wind. Gave up Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk |

Yep should be able to go just about anywhere. Be calm off civic center seawall with that light east. Anyway there are a lot of fish in LC and have been for a couple weeks now.

I trust MEM1971 more than myself so take his advice more than the pm I sent you. He fishes a LOT more than I.

I drove on south Lake Shore Dr. today about 4 pm. [ this is along the south shore of "Lake Charles"] There were seagulls feeding over near where the boat docks are located. Saturday I drove on I-10 by the beaches on the north shore of Lake Charles and there were seagulls diving in the swimming area...... but this could have been a "Cheerios" event as there were people near by. You can launch at Prien Lake park and it is only about a 4 mile run to this area. |

You prefer fishing LC over Prien? Which would you consider more kayak friendly?

I'm not sure on kayak as I have never tried it. Ive caught more trout out of lake Charles than I have prein but trout don't always go in lake Charles. Salinity has to be up and have to go months with no rain. One big rain storm and trout will be out of lake Charles. I guess to answer ur question on a calm day lake Charles. Just remember there are some really deep holes in lake Charles. I started off catching them in over 30 feet of water

Caught them all on popping cork with gulp shrimp, and 1/8oz jig head with purple and chartreuse down south and silver speck and white swimming mullet.

Both are very kayak friendly as far as ease of launch, but are open water, so susceptible to chop. LC has been good to me lately https://youtu.be/ItltQV8Z1_g Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
