Default Mercury compressor

Replaced compressor on my 2010 300XS at 168hrs. powerhead at 169hrs. Had to replace compressor again at 202hrs. 34hrs between compressprs is that a record?? Thankfully it was under warranty.

What is the normal cause for a compressor to fail or can they even ID the issue?

What is the average cost to replace the compressor?

Two problems ,a design flaw that may have not shown up had the compressor been made in the USA. The crankshaft rides on a bearing only on one end of the crank . Not enough to support the load , especially when you have quality Mexican craftsmanship as this..

The new ones are supposed to be redesigned so that the crank has a bearing on both ends. Had one throw the rod out the side about a year ago. Need to make sure they change small filter and clean the line between the compressor and the engine. The 2 stroke oil flows through and lubes the compressor before entering the engine. Usually when a compressor fails it causes metal shavings to enter this line / filter.
