Some of you on here remember the story of Baby Lucy from last year. She was the 11month old grand daughter of my older sister in Dallas killed in a car crash with her father driving. I call it a "crash" and not an "accident" because he was intoxicated with alcohol and found to have marijuana in his system at the time of the crash.
Since that time, he was released from the hospital and per Texas state law, was subject to random drug test. The prosecutors office was winding down the road with the case at a snails pace and was looking to get a plea deal. Well, my sister being the Cajun that she is, would have none of that. She must have called me 100 times over the last year over advice on what to do next. One big item, was the last person to see the dna donor at a house 5 minutes before the crash. Seems the DA's office lost track of their star witness. After telling them we would hire a private investigator to do their job for them, they agreed to look for her. Too late, a quick look on Facebook and my sister tracked her down in Florida. After offering to pay her plane ticket to Texas since they didn't have it in the budget, they came across and closed the case today.
It came out in court today that he failed 4 drug test since placed in the program, and attended 6 rock concerts following his discharge from the hospital. The DA's office was also pushed to monitor his FB account where they obtained photos of him partying, on a regular basis. The jury was apparently convinced that this idiots life is in the tank and found him guilty - sentenced to 14 years without the possibility of parole.
