Default Bull Black Drum on the Fly!

I was able to add to my list of trophy fish on the fly rod today with this giant bull black drum. I am not sure of weight because I don't have a scale that goes that high. I am guessing he was between 40 and 50 pounds. It was a blast sight casting to this monster and fighting him for 15 minutes.

my buddy who works for Orvis emailed me last night saying the fish was at least 50 lbs. He said he has weighed them on the boga at 40, and that fish was bigger. World records are too much work to worry about, but it would have been nice to have had a boga and IFGA certified leader material. A world record would have been a nice addition to the resume.

You have the story, the pics, the memories, and can tell eveyrone that you caught one big *** fish on fly!!!!! Nobody remembers a IFGA record holder until it is researched to be broken by someone else. Just my 2 cents on a IFGA record.

Congrats on a huge accomplishment sir!

thats nice but heres the thing ive been fishin here lately at calcasieu point late at night and we have been catching 2 to 6 a night on shrimp and shad. wee went 2 weeks in a row and caught 6 the first weekend and the next weekend we caught 5 then 2 weeks later we caught a couple of bull reds out there, but that is a very nice fish on a fly rod bet it was a hell of a fight. there was a guy in hackberry that caught a 87 pounder out there and it broke his dam rod he had a hard time getting it in
