Default When at Clemson MathGeek?

When were you at Clemson MathGeek? I was there for one and a half semesters in 69, dropping out with probably the lowest GPA in Clemson history. But once there, always there.

Clemson is on our short list for our teens to apply to and hopefully attend. We visited several times with the teens to get a feel for the place. Very high academic standards there.

The place has changed a lot since I was there -- entire business district was two blocks long, ROTC was still mandatory for the first two years, the only fast food joint was a Dairy Queen about 20 miles away, etc. -- so you couldn't get in trouble if you tried. (You could, however, drop out, me being Exhibit A in that category). Still, for a major university it's in a rather isolated location where there are not a lot of distractions and that is a bigger plus than it might sound. You are aware of the academics so no need to touch on that. Overall a really good school that hasn't gotten as much credit for its academic standards as it deserves. Can't say if it's the right place or best place for you kid, but I can say with certainly that he/she could do much worse. Of course it's possible I might be a tiny bit biased...
