gonna need to head out from micha's between 3:45-4 am to make sure we have enough time in case something doesn't go as planned. Want to be in the blind ready atleast 25-20 minutes early. Ya'll cool with that? Will let ya'll know if we need to leave earlier that that, but i think we'll be okay.

Finally took out the duck calls..hit a few notes...they're workin' fine. Rounded up shells for my son along with a few boxes of 3" 20gauge for me....shootin just the decoying birds! I'll pack the 12 just in case. Gettin the fixins ready for our Saturday night dove pot roast, bottle of Crown, case of Bud and a bottle or 2 of vino! Packed the new coot decoys in the truck....I'm startin to get excited! Nothing like that first cup of coffee Sat morn at 3:30 am., (can't sleep well before opening!) pull out the camp scrap book lookin' over the last 25 years of opening weekend with the same group of dear friends. Funny to watch the kids grow up from the early years w/ 410s to now gettin married and doing most of the camp work! Life does go by very fast but these few days each year mark a wonderful passage of traditions from one generation to another.....

i know it's early, but i want to make sure we have enough time to get everything ready. Last year we were 10 minutes late cause of my brother-n-law and i wasn't happy. While we were putting out decoys everyone was shooting around us and ducks were trying to decoy in the pond and nothing was ready.

we gonna do just like we did when we went teal hunting. It's kind of a tradition my father-n-law loves it when we stop by in the morning. Been doing it for years and won't stop anytime soon.

sounds like a great tradition. Duck hunting is a wonderful thing, and for most it's not about killing ducks just doing exactly what you described.
