Default Grand Isle

Hey guys, I am going to be dragging the boat over to grand isle for five days to kick off snapper season. I have never fished there so I am looking for any productive block numbers or locations of structure or reefs. I plan on targeting snapper, cobia, dolphin, kings, grouper, and possibly tuna depending on the seas. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

There is a big artificial reef just off of G.I.
Fish it and the rigs around it and you should do good.
It is not far offshore and it is marked with a bouy.
I think it is around 25 miles out.

Snapper are thick thick at my platform but it's about a 40 mile run. But hit me up I'll either be on the platform or deckhanding snapper/grouper out of cocodrie.

Trout are in the surf according to a few people I talked to,but only when it is not too windy. Elmers island is closed, you can fish it out of a boat but not on the beach.

Elmers is closed? I thought they opened it back up? Where else can you access the beach not in a boat?

Elmers has been closed since the oil spill along with the state park. I think you can go on the beach by bridgeside, but im not 100% sure about that. Oil is still washing up on the beach even though nobody wants to talk about it. I know a group of people from lafayette that daily clean up the beach on elmers and other areas.

Most of grand isle beach is open, the western part of the state park beach is open you can park and walk fourchon beach. Elmers will more than likely be closed all summer.

Went wade the surf this weekend...pretty windy, but the water was still decent...fished hard and only caught two specks and a red...there are multiple places for public beach access, you just have to look for them...we parked at the end of humble road...decent parking area
