Default Wright Area Specks

Took a ride to my lease yesterday in the Wright area and saw 4 separate flocks of specks. Largest flock had 18 birds, smallest flock had 7. So saw about 50 Specks total. Saw a few ducks, mostly teal, spoons and 3 pintail.

The migration is really about to kick off once this cooler weather gets closer.

The marshes are going to fill up with ducks during the next full moon at the end of the month. I don't see a whole lot of cold weather before then on the long range forecasts.

I hope we have more of a winter than we had last year.

Weather channel had a video the other day showing their predicted winter forecast. Showed us having a colder than normal November and early December but warmer after that.

Went to grass the blinds yesterday in Cameron. I saw a pretty good flightway of specks on the East side of Welsh. Heading South to North. Saw about 300-500 specklebellies in the air as I passed on I-10. I imagine there were more using the flightpath as I passed in a snapshot of time.

However, we didn't see the first duck in the marsh. No migrants. Of course, there was a lot of boat activity yesterday as everyone is pressing for the fish. I imagine Sabine has some ducks as no boats are allowed in.
