Default VB Launch Sites

I've never been to VB and am planning a trip in October to fish for Reds. Don't worry, I'm not gonna be one of the idiots you all talk about running up on you while you're chasing schooling fish. I'm just interested in catching a bunch of reds on artificials. My biggest question is where is the best place to launch to fish the Avery canal and Weeks bay areas? I will be in a 18' aluminum boat. Is there a place to launch in freshwater that is not too far a run to the bay? I'm staying in New Iberia. Thanks for any information on the area!

I would launch at the port if Iberia not that far of a run and you can catch reds as soon as you come out of the canal into weeks bay

Be prepared to fight tons of idiots in weeks bay,the trout fisherman will be out in full force. A good spot to fish for reds is along the west shoreline coming out of the avery canal. You can launch in delcambre it is about a 20 min run to the bay.

Thanks for all the good suggestions. Is there a hot bait or color there for reds? I'm ususally a spoon or spinnerbait fisherman unless they make me throw something else.

Spinnerbait or gulp under a cork if they don't want a spinner.
